Indeed, Stefano, it looks like you are right. I ran into this when
verifying bug 697788 for hardy. I had already forgotten all about the
running iceccd in that chroot and was also blissfully unaware that this
might be causing issues on logout. My apologies for the noise.

You sure you didn't start a daemon in the chroot by accident?
