@Dmitri , it's somewhere between kwin, qt and drivers. I have the same
graphics card , and experience the same issue while compositing is
turned on and raster graphicssystem is used - on my Arch installation.

OK, I tried the following:
I changed to default and that fixed the problem.
I changed to opengl and the screen was unusable.
I changed back to default and the windows were fine.
I changed to raster and the windows are fine.
I'll keep it at raster and see what happens.
