FOLLOWUP: re-download the same Trisquel 5.0amd64 image and it worked.
Both images had the same CORRECT md5sum values; so my guess is the
problem was with burning first time round or item number 2 "burn error".

I can confirm that this is not a drive issue. I just tried Trisquel 5.0
(Libre-Linux/Ubuntu) and got this error. I have no problem running other
CDs, DVDs or burning (i.e. LinuxMint 10.04). I suspect it is related to
the contents on the disc. Either some kind of bug, burn error or damaged
storage m
I'm sure it's not the cd drive or the cd... I get the same issue when
using a usb drive.

No idea what happened there, but clearly not related to schooltool.
Might be a defective CD drive, quick google found
