Ok, did remove (purge) the package, rebooted the machine. and then I suspended
it.
Same effect: fan is still out of control.
Powering off the machine again...

It looks like you have not configured fancontrol so it isn't actually
working. Can you try removing the package and see if the behavior
remains the same?

Yes, I had fancontrol installed. See below:

* Stopping fan speed regulator fancontrol [ OK ]
xavi@camagroc:~$ sudo fancontrol
Loading configuration from /etc/fancontrol ..
If so, can you provide the config file, and try running the following:
sudo /etc/init.d/fancontrol stop
sudo fancontrol
Then try to suspend, resume and see if there are any errors?
