Public bug reported: when running: sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
i noticed it tries to access some files from the new style structure, from /run/network. but this directory are not created on my system. upon further inspection, i noticed that the networking.conf file in /etc/init "mkdir"s the /var/run/network directory. this file belongs to ifupdown. i modiefied the file based on guidelines in the oneiricupgrade pages in the ubuntu wiki, so that /var/run gets replaced with /{,var/}run, but the /run/network directory is still not being created :S ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: ifupdown 0.7~alpha5.1ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.21-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Nov 3 02:45:17 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100427) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: ifupdown UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-29 (4 days ago) mtime.conffile..etc.init.network.interface.conf: 2011-11-03T00:58:17.410309 mtime.conffile..etc.init.network.interface.security.conf: 2011-11-03T00:58:17.410309 mtime.conffile..etc.init.networking.conf: 2011-11-03T00:58:17.410309 ** Affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885506 Title: upstart jobs still using /var/run To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/885506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
