As far as I could debug it by now, it seems to be an internal problem of
Bibble5, on which the libraries of oneiric respond differently compared
to those of natty. I had a special situation (inconsistency between
database and pictures on disk) which caused the crash, but that problem
existed defini
bibble5 works quite fine here on oneiric, though, without any additional
32bit libs that I know of.

They're not used as part of the standard desktop stack in Ubuntu 11.10, but
that doesn't mean other software doesn't still want them.
If these libraries I mentioned are not used anymore, why did the loader
then try to load them ?
I'd, by the way, recommend to include a warning function in the
generation scripts of the ia32 package, which does a recursive 'strings
- ' (or even a fgrep -r would do) onto all files in the lib32 dir

I was currently desperately trying to find the reason, why an
application that I urgently need (Bibble 5,
http://edge.bibblelabs.com/523-20110915/bibble5-5.2.3.rc4_amd64.deb )
that was running under Natty, crashes under Oneiric. It comes up and
displays its window, but once I use a tool and click i

It most certainly does not. It wil
More missing libraries:
libbonoboui-2*
libgnomecanvas-2*
libgnome-2*
libbonobo*
libORBit-2*
liboverlay-*
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0/2.10.0
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0/modules
I'd say the 32-bit support of Oneiric is completely broken.
