do you have any reference (e.g. upstream bug report) for that? I think
reverting is really not an option but maybe it is possible to add a
patch reverting this specific behaviour.

I would like to ask you as an Spyder dev: if we release a new minor
point release (2.1.8) in about two weeks fixing the issues Anatoly was
talking about, would you pick it up to replace 2.1.7? Or from this
moment on you are only accepting patches over 2.1.7?

extend an FFe out to Beta 2 freeze for that. A patch for this specific
issue would also work.
