I found my swap space wasn't working properly. I re-formated it, copied
the new UUID in fstab, uncommented the swap line and now my memory stays
at around 40-50% It's not ideal but at least I know it's not a memory
leak!

Same happens to me, with only 1GB ram and no proprietary video drivers.
My laptop *can* use Unity3d but the memory use keeps increasing until it
tops. I'm now using 2d but it still is extremely memory hungry: over 60%
just with firefox open at the moment. If I restart, it goes back to
30-40% but
The problem is that when I use the 3 fingers with a window like
nautilus, all my system hangs so I can't do anything with unity.. My
only solution is to restart xorg

I'm trying to drill down a similar problem that seems to happen with Ubuntu
11.10, Unity and Compiz. After some days of a working X session compiz is
growing and hogging more and more memory/cpu.
There is a leak somewhere.
I have several apps open all
