Public bug reported: When creating an ad-hoc wireless network from the "create new wireless network" network-manage applet, it appears to work and shows as being connected as well as showing in the connections page but no device i have tested can see the network.
I have tested with an Android phone that has connected to an ad-hoc created by Windows and with a Windows PC. Neither can see the network. ------------------------------------- Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 network-manager: Installed: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: network-manager 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.22-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory Date: Sun Nov 13 02:24:37 2011 Gconf: IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) IpRoute: default via 192.168.1.1 dev eth0 proto static 10.42.43.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 10.42.43.1 metric 2 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.118 metric 1 Keyfiles: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true WimaxEnabled=true RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ad-hoc amd64 apport-bug network network-manager oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889690 Title: Ad-hoc network appears to be created but isnt.
