I also have Dapper Drake 6.06 Long Term Support installed. The Firefox update of March 1st does appear to be the culprit that caused major Evolution breakage in our ranks. I get the same error as the original poster and the workaround does fix the problem. Though it is ugly. Does anyone know

Confirmed. Downgrading firefox libnss (and maybe libnspr) with synaptic is workaround. Since they were security updates I hope this will be fixed soon. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- evolution breaks with libnss update https://launchpad.net/bugs/88990

From duplicate bug 89054: Evolution won't complete startup after clicking the icon. Running from terminal it reports that it can't start NSS. Copying /usr/lib/firefox/libfreebl3.so to /usr/lib as reported on the forum seems to fix the problem. Confirmed this. -- evolution breaks with libnss

Grrr . . . this update should never have got out of dapper-proposed. I can confirm the LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox evolution workaround. -- evolution breaks with libnss update https://launchpad.net/bugs/88990 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com
