I also have Dapper Drake 6.06 Long Term Support installed. The Firefox
update of March 1st does appear to be the culprit that caused major
Evolution breakage in our ranks.
I get the same error as the original poster and the workaround does fix
the problem. Though it is ugly.

Confirmed. Downgrading firefox libnss (and maybe libnspr) with synaptic
is workaround. Since they were security updates I hope this will be
fixed soon.

From duplicate bug 89054:
Evolution won't complete startup after clicking the icon. Running from
terminal it reports that it can't start NSS.
Copying /usr/lib/firefox/libfreebl3.so to /usr/lib as reported on the forum
seems to fix the problem.
Confirmed this.

I can confirm the LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox evolution
workaround.
