Public bug reported:

indicator-sound for xfce4-panel (packaged in xfce4-indicator-plugin)
opens "gnome-congrol-center sound" instead of an xfce4 specific one
(like xfce4-mixer which has no pulseaudio specific options) or a more
generic one like pavucontrol (which is written in gtk2 and fits
perfectly on xubuntu-desktop).

I suggest using pavucontrol for xubuntu sound management on xfce4
-indicator-plugin instead of "gnome-congrol-center sound".
