The log file does indicate that there are errors with the media but
perhaps it is in the CD / DVD drive?
If you are trying to downgrade from 11.10 to 11.04 this is an
unsupported operation and it will actually fail as documented in bug
891711. If this is the case what state is your system in?

I tested the media with another PC, which had its harddisk previously wiped.
Thus no downgrade in this case.
The installation worked.
