Happens also in recent Debian sid, so I guess it's an upstream issue.

I don't have this problem anymore, but I have big problems trying to use
dual monitors. Gnome-shell, Unity, and Unity 2D die on startup, but
LXDE + Openbox works, except that if I start or stop using an external
monitor and use xrandr, all the apps die.

Thanks -- I AM using xorg-edgers because the Ironhide docs recommended
to use them. I'll try removing them and see how that helps.

Make sure you aren't using the xorg-edgers X packages. I think they
caused the bug on my system, but I'm not sure. I'm using the official
kernel and drivers right now, and I didn't see the problem for quite
some time.
package xserver-xorg-video-intel version: 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2.1

This affects me as well. I have 3.2.0-3-generic-pae. I'm using xpra
for critical apps, like Eclipse, so that I don't have to restart them
every time I have to restart X.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It

I've experienced this bug for quite some time now, because I've been
running a 3.0-rc for a long time. Right now, I'm experiencing it in the
mainline 3.1.0-030100-generic kernel. I'll try a 3.2rc now and report
back. But it only appears after several days.

I was very surprised to see that the display corruption appears in
screenshots too. I thought it was strictly a display driver issue.
Screenshot attached. You can see how lots of buttons and bookmarks in
Chrome simply do not appear. If I hover over them, they reappear.
