I had this same issue but in my case, as described on bug 65730, it was
because the /apps/gnome-power-manager/action_button_suspend gconf key
was set to nothing instead of suspend.
I have no idea how it got set to nothing, but I changed it to suspend
and now it's working again on my T60.

Could you post your package version from gnome-power-manager ? You can

The webmail client mangled that. I'll attach it here:

Sorry about that. I had a feeling that would happen.
Here's the output:

There isn't any attachment on the bug report, could you directly upload
it here on launchpad ?
Did you manage to put the laptop to sleep using Fn+F4 and the sleep.sh
script ? It would be nice to get everything going through g-p-m, since
it is already working here, and for most people. But we can c
Hello,
Attached is output from a fn-f4 keypress in a gnome
session running g-p-m as you requested. Now I have
changed the sleepbtn.sh script to just do
'/etc/acpi/sleep.sh sleep' rather than hand off to
g-p-m, which works, but isn't it desirable to have
everything handled by gnome if possible? Tha
