regarding this being a hardware problem. For future reference you can
manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in
the yellow line
I think I'm just going to chalk this up to flaky hardware. That USB IR
dongle was rather inexpensive, and it was made by a company I'd never
heard of before.
