Confirm the bug for Feisty Herd 5 Live CD on a SATA 100GB drive where I
have a 20GB partitiion for WinXP and want to drop Feisty manually
partitioned into 2GB partition for /boot and 60GB partition for root.
Work-around - From console run:
ubiquity --desktop %k gtkui --no-migration-assistant

The same problem on Feisty Herd 5 Live CD.
I am including the syslog file on this post and the debug file will be
attached on next post.
Hope it helps to solve the problem

I also got the crash when disabling Migration Assistant... I was not
able to use the altternate CD, either, due to troubles with the
partitioner.

Sorry for the lack of follow-up. I was able to install Kubuntu instead,
which didn't seem to try and run any migration assistant. It's running
so well (This is an Alpha release!?!?) that I don't want to mess around
with it.
And while there is an option to disable the migration assistant if you
Ah, I'm very sorry, but I went and installed 6.10, so my system is no
longer the same. Though I take it by your second message you have made
some kind of progress, yes?
Thank you for your reply, and your hard work, at any rate. :)

Nosfoit, your crash is particularly interesting. Can you open up a new
bug report after running ubiquity with -d and attach
/var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/syslog, and the output of `sudo os-
prober`? Thanks!

Hi. I'm having the exact same problem, but I was able to generate a

Herd 5, AMD64 ISO, not alt. The drive I'm trying to install onto is
SATA, and Windows is on the same drive. I have however created proper
partitions for Linux.

My system is also a dual-boot, but windows is on its own hard drive
(IDE).
Any fix or workaround yet?

On Herd 5, with both i386 and AMD64 ISOs, after manually selecting
partition and moving forward, I am given notice that ubiquity has
crashed, the migrate documents and settings screen's text-box area stays
blank white, and back and forward buttons remain grayed out. I can
cancel installation and
There is such an option, and a few others you can see by doing
sudo ubiquity --help
It seems however as if the option to disable migration doesn't work.
The attached file is the last part of what is outputted in the terminal
when I run with migration disabled, the new experimental package

Can you run the installer with the -d option (sudo ubiquity -d) and then
attach /var/log/installer/debug.
Thanks!
