there was a bug in ooo-build
(kde file picker plugin was registered with name of gnome's one)
commited in trunk:

i tried this patch and it fix bug for me
so, please update ooo for ubuntu

And having just tried out the live CD of Kubuntu Feisty beta,
OpenOffice.org still comes up with its own filepicker rather than it's
KDE-like one.

I don't know about the LiveCD (I'll probably try a daily snapshot when I
get home), but I know that renaming or deleting my ~/.openoffice.org2
folder does not change the behavior - the OpenOffice file picker, rather
than the KDE-like filepicker, still comes up.

- temporarily rename your ~/.openoffice.org2 folder, restart OOo,
see the same behaviour?

I can confirm this as well. The "Use OpenOffice Dialog" checkbox
doesn't affect which file chooser opens. Attached is a screenshot.
