I can view and edit the tags using Quod Libet (Ex Falso respectively) and some
other programs, however it's not too good that there seems some real-world
software that has problems d

Thank you for your report. I am closing this bug because it is not
actually a bug. Rhythmbox (well, GStreamer) writes id3v2.4 tags which
EasyTag / BMP can not read properly. EasyTag uses id3lib which is broken
and unmaintained. It has only support for id3v2.3. Unfortunatly the
author does not seem
rhythmbox 0.9.8 on feisty, i thing i've seen this bugs jears ago
