I've used xchat with Freenode for dapper, edgy, and feisty without this
problem. It sounds like a configuration issue. Check the servers tab
of the Network Properties dialog for Freenode. I have the following
listed in this order:
irc.us.freenode.net
irc.au.freenode.net
irc.eu.freenode.net
irc.
I clicked on Freenode then entered the server freenode and it keeps
cycling out to "failed - Subscription refused"
