My laptop Dell 640m has the same problem. Just Fn+F2 doesn't work sometimes,

For me it works when the kill switch is off (wifi on) before booting.

I confirm the issue. My hotkeys worked fine with Edgy. With Feisty sound
and brightness hotkeys works but not Fn+F2 for Wifi. My actual kernel is
2.6.20-13-386 .
