Akshat Aranya, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? It turns out that my problem was happening because of the presence of oem-config and ubiquity. These should have been removed at the end of installation, but they weren't. These were being started when X started, which was perhaps causing the TTY to be stolen (by bterm). In any case, maybe this
