There is no /dev/disk/dev-uuid/ dir with non-working kernels. They do exist in
working ones.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. When dropped to a shell when booting the new kernel could you
please type 'ls /dev/disk/by-uuid/' and add the content to your bug
report? If you could also add the contents of '/boot/grub/menu.lst'
that would help
