Public bug reported: Hi all,
I'm using feisty herd 5. I'm on a IBM Thinkpad T43P - 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5751M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 11) Pretty frequently I'm getting network "lock ups". The system will stop responding on the network then as quickly as the problem appeared it goes. I've tried several things. My first thoughts were its a synergy problem as I normally use this to control the machine. However when the machine is being controlled from the local keyboard and mouse I sometimes see lock ups when browsing or using ssh to another system. I'm moved both systems onto the same switch and checked the duplex and speed settings. All is good! I've checked to see if it was a X / ati related problem which was my first thought. But when the synergy session dropped out the machine was responsive from the local keyboard and mouse. One way i can repeat this is with skype! If skype is running when i receive a chat, the system always looses network for a couple of seconds then returns to being fine. Any ideas where i should look next.
