This is very strange. Can you boot a livecd and run:
sudo e2fsck -f /dev/sda3
Also can you try booting the super grub disk, press c to get to the
command line, and run ls -l and post the results? You can find it here:

I had a similar problem installing 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10 onto my lenovo
B570 laptop - at the end of the install, the reboot failed with GRUB's
Error 13. Curiously, installing 32-bit Ubuntu 11.10 worked OK - which is
my current work-round.
