For me it looks like that /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstopdf getas always
installed with executable permissions. So I will close this bug here. If
you find the file losing its executable permissions on an update, please
re-open.

Hello Lars,
Thanks for your quick response. I see this problem right after adding a
new printer using system-config-printer, then click on Print a test
page. (I wasn't trying to print a pdf at all.)
However, I did a chmod -R 755 and chown -R root.root to
/usr/lib/cups/filters and I can print

I had another look at your log and it seems
/usr/lib/cups/filters/pstopdf wasn't executable for cups. I don't know
how this could have happened, but Till might. I'm assigning this bug to
him.

The PDF file you're trying to print seems to be damaged. Does evince
display it correctly? If it doesn't contain any sensitive data, could
you please attach the PDF file to this bug report?
