Simon fixed this issue in the upstream gtk3.3 git branch. I'll include
the fix in precise asap (in a few hours probably).

It's not entirely fixed unfortunately, at least when hovering a menu-
item you have a dark border around the menuitem-icon. (There's also a
small square when hovering a menuitem without icon.)
Anyway, I will try to fix it asap and keep the tracker up to date.

Thanks for reporting the bug, I'm well aware of the problem.
Unfortunately a lot of gtk-theming changed (again) for Precise, but I'll
take the time to fix the problems soon.
