Public bug reported:

11.10 has some missing dependencies such that gimp won;t install.
The workaround was this documented on these forums:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/testing
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -f
sudo apt-get install gimp
The launcher seems to be working properly except for the Home icon.
Even when I do gksudo nautilus, I cannot see any of my home folders Documents,
etc.
However, they are there as shown by a terminal listing:
ls -l
total 1464

Any ideas what could be wrong or how I can fix the launcher?

Also, when I hover the mouse over the left hand side of the screen, it has
stopped showing the launcher. I need to minimise allw indows to see it.
Is there a way to reinstall the launcher?
FWIW, when I gksudo nautilus and try and go to the root foler then /home, it
crashes.
Only way I can see my files is through the terminal.
:~$ nautilus
Initializing nautilus-gdu extension
Initializing nautilus-dropbox 0.6.8
GLib (gthread-posix.c): Unexpected error from C library during 'Invalid
argument': pthread_cond_timedwait. Aborting.
I thought this might be the issue:
