well, i can reproduce it on an upgraded armel install that is slightly
outdated (last update about a week before beta1)
i can not reproduce it at all on a fresh armhf install of an ac100 beta1
image here, the language selector starts fine

Unfortunately the back trace is still not very useful, but I just
realized that this looks ARM specific. So this needs to be reproduced
and debugged on an armhf machine anyway.
