This appears to be fixed in 10.10 with the addition of sbackup 0.11.3
(sbackupd binary doesn't even exist anymore, but sbackup binary and
others handle odd arguments fine).

I started a branch of sbackup 0.10.5 where I apply all patches for 0.10.5. It
is open to use it for packaging.

This is reproducible by calling : sudo sbackupd --anyNonValideOption .
This shouldn't raise an exception (even though one isn't supposed to call
sbackupd manually.
