Ken Pratt, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

i installed 12.04 on a laptop and want to remote login from my Debian
Squeeze (with latest updates) box using Xephyr.
thanks for any advice on how to proceed...

Seeing the same thing here too. Upgraded a virtual-machine to 12.04, and
now when I try to connect to it from an 11.10 system via XDMCP I get the
same crash
$sudo Xnest :2 -query work-vm.local
[dix] Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/cyrillic, removing
from list!

It also happens to me. I've just upgraded my ubuntu box to 12.04 and i
can no loger conect to it from my ubuntu 11.10 desktop via XDMCP with
comand:
Xephyr :1 -screen 1024x768 -query 10.90.43.22
