I think resource monitors does more what you want. for ram. It also
launches lxtask by default. But if you want to show cache or more
advanced features on a system with low ram easy workaround would be
resource indicators to launch the htop as the additonal refrences does
this solve your problem?
Did you check Resource monitors in Ubuntu 12.04? It doesn't show swap or
cache, but very useful anyway.
