Made it work. The config file for usb_modeswitch is missing. Tested with
Vodafone Romania 4G connection. The solution is posted on my blog.

Thomas: I reported the bug on the behalf of a friend of mine. We ended
up installing Windows to get the 4G dongle(from Telia Denmark) working
on her (old)laptop. Since the bug hasn't been assigned to anyone yet I
doubt if anything will happen soon...

Has anything happened with this bug? I also have this problem, and I
don't know where else to look for help on this (most of what I find on
google is related to the problems in 11.10 or earlier releases).
