Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
On my Compaq Presario R4125US I loaded the repository drivers via the following route: 1.) sudo kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf adding lines: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection 2.) Installed the linux-restricted-modules for the current kernel via adept. 3.) sudo depmod -a 4.) sudo aticonfig --initial 5.) sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv 6.) sudo shutdown -r now Upon reboot, I get this when I go to the CLI and type fglrxinfo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ fglrxinfo display: :0.0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: RADEON XPRESS Series OpenGL version string: 2.0.6334 (8.34.8) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ This tells me the drivers are loaded properly and I can now play Scorched3D without issues. However, if I attempt to restart or shutdown the system, my laptop hangs and fails to shutdown or reboot. I have to physically shut it off by holding the ON/OFF button down for three seconds. Not certain if it's a driver issue or something else. Please investigate this.
