I saw a question asked, If someone was trying to upgrade. I was trying to upgrade to U 12.04 with an ISO obtained from Ubuntu's site and created at slowest burn speed. Error messages above, my post, applies. After repeated failures, I am now trying to return to Ubuntu 11.10. Thanks -- You

I'm afraid you don't provide enough information for us to make anything useful out of this bug report. Please provide log files of the failure (/var/log/apt/*) and/or a paste of the failed updates. Also dpkg does not have a installArchives() function. I guess it's update-manager... so reassigning
