Binary package hint: update-manager
This bug is very similar to Bug #91295, but the error message on the last line
differs.
After installing most of the new packages for Feisty Fawn the upgrade tool
crashed this way:

UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode characters in position 10-11:

Now I'm not able to boot with the new kernel version 2.6.20.12, but with the
original 2.6.17.11 neither. I found that in the /boot directory there are
initrd.img-2.6.17-11-generic and initrd.img-2.6.17-11-generic.dpkg-bak files
both with 0 B length and no initrd.img-2.6.20-12-generic file. I'm currently
running with the older version 2.6.17.10 and I hope the official upgrade will
install the new kernel version properly...
