Public bug reported: On a fresh install of Precise Pangolin I installed the NVidia drivers through the 'Additional Drivers' menu dialog. This install fails with an error. Looking into /var/log/jockey.log it seems that the install fails due to a problem with missing kernel sources. I'm not sure if the kernel will even boot now.
Below I attached the relevant part of jockey.log ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: nvidia-current-updates 295.20-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-17.27-generic 3.2.6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Mar 16 08:59:27 2012 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120228) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956796 Title: Install of nvidia-current-updates through 'Additional Drivers' menu item fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates/+bug/956796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
