is the earliest bug I've been able to find, but I am still looking for
the first report, i.e. master bug.

Looking at the menus shows that ALL submenus are affected (not only "VPN
Connections"): "more networks" is also empty.
When that happens, the functionality is also reduced: "Connection
information" doesn't do anything, "Edit Connections" doesn't do
anything, nothing works.. I also cannot disconnec
Well, it's most likely a side-effect of a memory leak. I changed the way
the menus got updated again during the release, but we also (again)
fixed a number more of leaks in code. I think this has perhaps been
really fixed now.
There's just one report I had of such issues after running a VPN for a
Stopping nm-applet and restarting it makes the menu work again.
But as to why it suddenly became unusable is unclear.
