myunity (3.1.2-0ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low
* New upstream bugfix-only release:
+ Fix for crash when setting panel-menus-have-icons. (LP: #962568)
+ Fix for missing warning with default settings. (LP: #959809)
This bug hasn't been fixed in Ubuntu archive already, therefore it can't
be marked as closed so far.

I was able to reproduce your bug. Anyway, I am not sure this is may be called a
bug, since looks like this is a deliberate upstream choose.
I will get in touch with upstream to understand the rationale behind this
behaviour of my
