Same problem here i'm using a Mic on Xubuntu Feisty, on a legacy
Soundblaster Live sound card. It stopped working suddenly. Tested in
Windows and the mics are OK, so it must be the same Bug here.

Same problem with Intel HDA chipset on an Asus desktop system. My specs
are:
$ lspci | grep -i audio

hey, i'm using a logitech gamins headset. the headphones work just fine.
i tested the microphone on a recorder just like you guys and nothing.
i'm using a generic sb live sound card.

I use Xubuntu 6.10 with Intel 82801AA-ICH sound chip and my microphone
doesn't work either -- it's just dead. I have tried fiddling with the
settings.

I confirm this bug. Am using Xubuntu feisty and the microphone doesn't
work. It produces no sound even with the boost on and level is set to
max. Its been working before with no problems at all. Speaking and
recording via the microphone produces silence. I use a Creative VIbra
128 card and
