Public bug reported:

Firefox is unable to launch thunderbird when both are confined.

This is how it launches thunderbird:

/usr/lib/thunderbird-11.0/thunderbird.sh with:
  /usr/lib/thunderbird-[1-9]*/thunderbird{,.sh} Cx -> sanitized_helper,
(abstractions/ubuntu-email)

/usr/lib/thunderbird-11.0/thunderbird-bin with:
  /usr/lib*/{,**/}* Pixr, (abstractions/ubuntu-helpers)

Unfortunately thunderbird-bin relies on LD_LIBRARY_PATH set by
thunderbird.sh which is removed by the "Px" rule.

thunderbird exits with the following error message:
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/thunderbird-11.0/libxpcom.so:
libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

** Affects: apparmor (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
