Bugs,
thanks for asking, I'm not sure but if it's gnome-shell only (added to
the fact that nautilus background rendering didn't change in quite some
time) I will assume it's a shell bug and reassign there
** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu)

dual rendered wallpaper out of place when nautilus handles the desktop
The output from xrandr is the same both when bug is apparent and when
it's not.
Also, when setting the wallpaper in the wallpaper display:
the front wallpaper is changing at first, and then after a second or so the
wallpaper behind is changing as well.

Sebastien, I hope output from xrandr is enough? Just ping me and I'll
get you a screenshot.
I'm just using a laptop with one screen and the display panel looks
normal, just showing the internal screen with correct resolutions etc.
alex@optimus:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x
Thank you for your bug report, how many screens do you have? Could you
take a screenshot of the display panel? It acts like you had two screen
stacked on each other in your xrandr configuration
