PLEASE fix this BUG! This just happened to me the other day! It's also
a SECURITY issue. Pidgin continues to run in the background even after
it's been closed as described. Other users on my computer were able to
access my contacts list after a chat window opened up in an unexpected
manner. Su
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. There is absolutely no visible
indicator that pidgin is still running after the window was closed as
described despite the user still being online and available.

I'm fairly certain that this is working as intended. It's certainly how
I want it to work, since I want to keep my chat client running without
it always being on display in alt-tab. Have you tried changing the Show
System Tray Icon prefrence to Never?
