Hi. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm spamming the bug tracker by
repeating this here, but there is a patch for the 8776 driver against
the 2.6.19 and 2.6.20 kernels, if you're willing to go that route. 8776
was the last working driver I had for my 440 Go
nvidia-glx-legacy doesn't support compositing. This has been a royal
joy, trying to figure out how to now turn off desktop-effects and revert
back to metacity because I can no longer get a reasonable desktop to
work in the meantime It seems like this might have been the wrong
direction to head
I have the exactly same problem. nvidia-glx was working nicely, but went
from version 1.0.96xx to 1.0.97xx today and I get that in my Xorg.log:
