Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

I have been running feisty on this Dell Inspiron laptop for the last
three months. I run dist-upgrade frequently. I've had no problems with
this hardware until I ran dist-upgrade yesterday (03/25/2007). The
nvidia driver no longer works with my hardware. The graphics adapter in
the laptop is GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go AGP 8x.

Interestingly enough the only way I could run X on this hardware after
the last update was either by using the nv driver or installing the
nvidia-glx-legacy driver. With all do respect, this is a ridiculous
change. I go from being able to run compiz or beryl one day to not being
able to use 3d effects because of driver limitations.

I hope this is something that will be reverted back to where we were
just 2 days ago. I use this laptop frequently in LUG presentations and
many will be dismayed over the explanation of the loss of 3d effects.
