Public bug reported:

Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release: 12.04
alarm-clock:
  Installed: 1.2.5-1.2
  Candidate: 1.2.5-1.2
  Version table:
 *** 1.2.5-1.2 0
        500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Freshly update within the last hour.

In 11.10 this app produced an item in the notification area that allowed
one to manipulate and view the current alarms.

This is missing from the current 12.04 beta.

When an alarm sounds there appears to be no way to access it to silence
its sounds.

I use the application extensively to schedule my day with reminders.
The applet of the same name is not useful.
