Public bug reported:

I know this is not exactly a bug, but owning a 64bit AMD Turion Laptop, it 
makes it really hard to enjoy Ubuntu, except if you install the 32bit version. 
Ubuntu should 1. Have a dektop-user friendly interface in which 32bit 
programmes like wineHQ, Google Picasa, Google Earth, Adobe Flash and others 
that are not yet supported on 64bit Ubuntu, can be installed. 
2. Just like in Windows Vista, the 64bit processor capacity should be used for 
improved security or crypting and should give 64bit users some slight 
advantages. A 64bit icon besides the Ubuntu-image in the splash screen would 
also convince more Ubuntu users to use the 64bit version like I am trying to 
do.
