I have this problem in fully updated Feisty (30.9.2007). Two users
logged in and when plugging in an USB stick or a CD it seems that it
mounts randomly as one of the users OR then the first user always gets
the device (haven't tested for sure). Still it seems quite clear that
ONLY the active user

Do you still have this problem in Feisty Final? To give access to
devices, you must check off which devices users can have access to in
Users and Groups.
