Just ran into the same bug... This is a nasty one because it affects ubuntu-standard. My guess is that postinst hangs due to the grub-probe error. I'll try to look into it when I get a chance. Quick workaround: Append the following to /etc/default/grub: GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true Run sudo
