Ok, I found the problem: HUD only works if you make use of the global menu. As I did not like the global menu on my 24 inch screen, I removed the package. That also leaves HUD inoperable as the commands for HUD are read from the global menu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/975274). But

I'm having this issue as well. A bit more specific, I have the Dropbox application installed, when I use HUD, I get the options from the current application, but also from the Dropbox system status as well. To recreate: 1) Open any application (ex: Firefox) 2) Open HUD (press Alt button) 3)

Same problem. Also the top icon on the left changes to other applications while typing. See attachment. I started out in GIMP but it changed to some icon I'm not even sure what is. ** Attachment added: showing HUD not working
