Public bug reported:

I've tried to install feisty from alternate 386 iso
I had some problems with backuppc remainders (old installation) but I've
managed to reinstall apache2-common and remove it, then the installation went
smoothly.

A bit before and after the restart, I've been having problems with
gnome-panel, it should launch itself on startup/login but it doesn't.
Thankfully I have set a ALT+F3 shortcut to run a terminal. I typed
'gnome-panel', it appeared then I pressed CTRL+C to kill it from the
terminal. In Ubuntu Edgy 6.10, this helped the gnome-panel run itself
again. In Feisty (beta) it doesn't act the same way. The gnome-panel
should keep its re-run-on-kill status
